HCW 2013 - Day 5

So today's class was about his and hers cards. I loved the lesson, but found it hard to apply. I guess I don't think I make very girly cards in general, 'cause that's not my style. But I gave it my best.

So this is my male card:

I tried to focus on what Debbys husband said... and I don't think its very fussy.

And my felmale card (sort of a homage to Laura Bassen):

A bit more decorated and glittery. Looking back I might have switched the tree designs with each other, but I'm still happy with the cards.

Shake it baby!

I've been seeing all these great shaker cards online and I wanted to try myself. I found this stamp I thought would make a great backdrop. I used the Mojo Monday challenge for the layout.

And my card:

So I learned that the next time I do a shaker card I'm gonna make the shaker-pocket twice as thick. Now when you shake the card the small pieces sometimes stick in the top or on the sides. But I'm happy with the outcome anyways!

HCW 2013 - Day 4

I loved the idea of stamping on an embossed sentiment, so I made my own version of Sheri's card. I first tried stamping brown on gold emboss which turned out horrible (haha), so I stuck with her color scheme blue/green on silver.

The patterned paper is from cratepapers 'Snow day collection', and the ribbon is just something I had laying around.

HCW 2013 - Bonus day Teens

Since I just bought some embossing folders I wanted to try them. I embossed a white piece of cardstock with my new Sizzix Snowflake folder, and added some grey and blue color to it just dabbing the inkpad on the raised areas.

Using Courtney's design I cut a banner in paper and added grey washi tape in two stripes. I also die cut some felt and added an embossed sediment on top. It's in Swedish and means (loosely translated) 'Wishing you a very merry Christmas'. Some liquid pearls finished of the look.

HCW 2013 - Day 2 - Part 2

I went to my "local" craft store this weekend. I use the word local loosely since it was 1h drive away, which is very far here where I live. Anyways, I bought some dies and embossing folders and I just could not wait to get back to day 2 of the HCW.

So this is a copy of Jennifer's card. I just loved it so much and I wanted to try the technique. I ended up with some small pieces I didn't get why, and I lost one... fortunately I could cover that area up with the black center piece after. The letters spell out 'Merry Christmas' in Swedish.

I didn't just wanna be a copy cat, so I did one more inlay card. And I used my memory box ornament die.

I actually die cut patterned papers to fill the ornament, since I thought coloring wouldn't make it that interesting.  Since I didn't have any glitter paper I added lots of glitter with my pen instead.

HCW 2013 - Day 3 - part 3

Since the days lesson is about CAS, I just wanted to make a CAS card. I found my old Hero Arts long Christmas stamps, and I thought this would make a nice bight card. The sentiment is from papertrey inks new rustic wreath stampset.

And of course I couldn't resist adding some sparkle

HCW 2013 - Day 3 - Part 2

I've seen all these great photos online of northern light, and I wanted to make a card with it. I used Sharis layout if the card, and created a mountain with trees to brake of the night sky.

My inspiration:

The distress colors I used to make the sky was: Squeezed Lemonade, Bundle Sage, Worn Lipstick, Broken China, Evergreen Bough, Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot. Looking back I might not have needed all of them, but since I had all of the on hand I used them.

This picture is before I added black soot:

I now it's not really a CAS card, but I'm really happy with the outcome!
